A great way to start sketching digitally like a pro!

Analog sketching is great, but can also slow down your workflow. By sketching digitally, you don’t have to deal with scanning paper sketches, you can do many design iterations quickly, and of course “Ctrl+Z” can be very handy!

This course will introduce you to the basics of digital sketching and guide you through the process of completing a product design sketch and render with an entirely digital workflow.

You will complete basic drawing exercises, learn perspective, digital workflow practices, and material rendering. If you have little to no experience sketching digitally this will guide you through the necessary steps to become familiar with the tools and programs you are using. And if you have experience, this is a great way to go back and reinforce the basics and learn a new perspective on the digital sketching workflow.

I’ll give you direct feedback on your sketches so you can improve very quickly. There are a limited number of seats available, so sign up for the enrollment notification so you don’t miss it!

See you in Sketchdrive!

Course Description

When you start sketching digitally you are learning how to draw again (or for the first time!) with different tools. Because of this, it is best to start with the basics and familiarize yourself with the digital sketching medium in a simple way. This course will give you the tools you need to become comfortable sketching digitally and then quickly move into sketching and rendering real products. You’ll learn the best ways to sketch and render in a quick and efficient way so you can develop more concepts! You’ll get direct feedback from me and be able to see and learn from your peers’ sketches and the feedback I give them.

Program

Lesson 1: The Basics – line + ellipse drills, and 1 + 2 point perspective
Lesson 2: Basic Shapes – sketch and render basic forms in different materials
Lesson 3: Sketching a Product – use what you’ve learned about perspective and workflow to complete a product design sketch
Lesson 4: Rendering a Product Sketch – use what you’ve learned about materials and lighting to render your product design sketch

INSTRUCTOR FEEDBACK: With this option, you will follow a guided course of 4 weeks and you will have my feedback to help you progress as fast as possible. You will have a personal project folder within the course where you will upload your work for review. I will give you written and visual feedback on your work so you know exactly what you need to work on to continue improving. You will also be able to see work from other members taking the course, so you can learn from the feedback I give them, and share/receive feedback from other members.

SELF STUDY: With this option, you will have access to all of the tutorial videos and assignments, and you can complete the course at your own pace. You can upload your work for peer review, but you will NOT receive instructor feedback.
